The who’s, what’s, why’s and how’s
What is the Lowell Hovis Art Fund?
Lowell Hovis, a mathematical artist, enriched the lives of children at UCDS by teaching them the beautiful relationships that hide below the surface of numbers. His legacy lives on at UCDS, both in the minds of students and also in the Lowell Hovis Arts Fund. Established in his honor, the Lowell Hovis Arts Fund supports visiting artists at UCDS. Please visit www.ucds.org to learn about this year’s recipients.
What Does the Lowell Hovis Art Fund Support?
The Lowell Hovis Art Fund supports visiting artists to UCDS. Future goals of the Lowell Hovis Art Fund include:
Supporting the Artists in Residence at UCDS for several months so the children may learn about the ongoing development of a work/works of art.
Supporting the “Creative Fusion” Summer Art Program. UCDS students will have the opportunity to work with artists during the Summer. The program will eventually incorporate scholarships for young artists with limited access to art resources/education at their schools.
Who participates in the Lowell Hovis Art Fund?
UCDS parents have the opportunity to serve on the Lowell Hovis Art Fund committee. All UCDS families can participate in the program. The committee also works closely with the Parent Association and the school to ensure a shared vision.
